Let’s talk about the premiere subscription tier of this newsletter, for the collectors and the die-hard fans. THE ONION CLUB costs you $250/year. After you sign up, you can either email tinyonionorders@thirdeyecomics.com to verify your shipping address right away, or you can wait for the link to the address survey in the next ONION CLUB exclusive email, before the next mail order ships out.

With your first shipment as a new member of THE ONION CLUB, you will receive a plastic membership card, with the above design. But the key incentive to join The Onion Club are the six exclusive variant covers we’ll be shipping you over the course of 2022. The Onion Club’s vibe is extravagance, so I wanted to see if I could capture a bit of extravagance in the approach to the variant covers I’d be releasing in 2022.

Over the last few months, I needed to work closely with my publishers to see if this was possible, because it only felt worth it if it was going to be a full set... And now we’ve gotten the green light, and so I’m able to announce our variant cover plan for the year.

All six Onion Club Exclusive variant covers released this year will be released in GOLD FOIL. These covers are not available for wholesale, will never be put on sale on the Tiny Onion Store, and are limited to one per Onion Club subscriber. Instead of featuring the Tiny Onion design, they will feature the ornate Onion Club design featured on the membership card above.

We have a bad-ass artist lined up to do the full set of six 2022 Onion Club Foil Covers. I will announce the artist, and the first design when I send out the private Onion Club message at the start of March. The first Onion Club cover will be for SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #21, and it’s shaping up to be something beautiful.

Now, let me lay out all the benefits to Onion Club membership…

• Onion Club members will receive a special membership card perfectly sized to fit in your wallet, which will unlock special offerings at comic conventions. Those offerings include:

  • If you present your Onion Club member card at a convention signing, I will waive my signature fee for one graded signature per signing session.

  • If you present your Onion Club member card at a convention signing, you can get double the limit of free ungraded signatures per signing session (ie: if I have a limit of 3 free ungraded signatures, you can get 6 free ungraded signatures).

  • I have made a special gold variant of both the SIKTC Order of St. George, and Department of Truth logo enamel pins to bring to comic conventions, which will only be available to purchase if you are a card carrying member of the Onion Club.

  • If you forget your Onion Club Card, you can also show a logged-in membership page on Substack that shows you’re a subscriber at the $250 Onion Club level to receive the same benefits.

• Onion Club members will receive six exclusive variant covers over the course of 2022, available only to Onion Club members, that will never be put on sale to the public. Shipping costs included in membership.

• Onion Club members will receive some other special “gifts” at various points over the year. Shipping costs included in membership.

• Onion Club members will get early access to new merchandise and Variant Covers through an exclusive email the Monday before each Onion Drop. (NOTE: With covers, only a set number will be made available early to The Onion Club, so that other paid subscribers also get a shot to purchase the covers at The Onion Drop - If a cover you want sells out on Monday, you should get ready for the drop the following Wednesday)
