Now Live: Tiny Onion Merch!
Designed for Horror Lovers, Con Goers, and Comic Creators
Alright. Please allow me to talk my shit.
When James originally asked me to join Tiny Onion, he asked me to take on creating and selling a lifestyle merchandise line for the company at large. Not for one of our books, but something evergreen we could sell as a company. Company branded merch doesn’t typically sell well, especially for a brand new company, so his request could have been interpreted as a cruel challenge, but I took it as the promise of a well-fitted job. In a very dweeby, earnest way, I love merch.
To me, at its best, merch is an opportunity to continue the world-building of a story. It gives the wearer an opportunity to make connections over shared fandoms while they’re out and about. It’s a unique byproduct of the business of fandoms and comics that deserves to be respected. Like all things in comics, both before and behind the curtain, it’s a collaboration. So when asked to make a line of merch that would look good and make people feel good, I immediately hit up Kerin Cunningham.
Kerin is a prolific band merch designer, but I met her at a con years ago while she was doing covers. Over the years I have admired her ability to listen to an album and translate the emotions it inspires, into a different, wearable form. She’s the best in the business, and she made time in her schedule for us.
She took this email…
…and turned it into this full line.
Originally, we soft launched this line at C2E2, intending to put in online right after, but it sold better than we could have dreamed. We ended up selling out of a lot of it on the con floor. This led to me stress emailing our printers from the O’Hare airport, politely asking them to rush another, much larger batch of hoodies, totes, and shirts. They are now being printed as I write this email.
I’ve been excited about this line since Kerin’s first sketches came in, and can’t wait for you to see every piece. So here we are. Without further ado, please allow me to introduce….
Our THANK YOU! TOTE is manufactured and printed in Seattle. It features 10-ounce black canvas with black 1″ cotton handle, and measures at 15″h x 20″w x 5″d. Big enough for your Wednesday trips to the LCS, and Friday trips to the record store.
Heads up to collectors, the Roux Bandana (2024 edition) is a limited run.
The fabric square is a large 22" x 22", with an imprint area of 20.5”x20.5”.
MIND ALTERING ZIP UP HOODIE available in XS-3XL. I have been living in this hoodie. It is so comfortable.
LAYER BY LAYER T-SHIRT available in XS-5XL.
SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING T-SHIRT is available in XS-5XL.
Both of our T-shirts are regular fit, mid weight (5.3oz) and 100% combed Cotton. Both are available in sizes XS-5XL.
Introducing the SHARP CUTS LANYARD with a dual lobster clip, and our flagship ONION CORE ENAMEL PIN! 1"x1" Soft enamel, butterfly backing.
Perhaps my favorite piece from the collection, we teamed up with MiiR to manufacture the SHARP CUTS WATER BOTTLE. A 20oz, wide mouth with a sturdy angled handle and double walled vacuum insulation. Keeps your hot drinks hot and your cold drinks cold. This is my go-to travel bottle and she does not disappoint.
Comics are a collaborative process in all parts. I want to take a moment to thank a few of the people that made this line what it is. Kerin Cunningham- thank you for sharing your talent with us. Third Eye Comics, specifically Emma, Steve, Karolyn, and Nicole- thank you for helping our products along from the printer to our mailboxes. Ticking Clock Productions, especially James Coletta, Jordan Skutar and M.J- thank you for capturing these photos and making it fun. The team at Scott’s Collectables for helping us debut at C2E2 and our friends for becoming models in Chicago.
We are sentient flesh, roaming around space, adorning our meat suits in pretty designs to delight ourselves. If you choose to adorn your meat suit with our merch, thank you. Tag us so we can see these pieces out and about in the world.
