So, last week was pretty fun, I’m not gonna lie.
There were a lot of very top secret reasons it was a pretty fun week, but one of the biggest reasons is pretty much the opposite of secret.
The creators of Dark and 1899 are teaming up to bring SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN to Netflix!!! Ahhhhh!!!! You can read a lot more about it over on Deadline. I’ve been chatting a bunch with Bo and Jantje over the last few months, and they have an incredible vision for the project, and a love of the source material. I trust them with the book. Werther and I are honestly over the freaking moon about it all. Now, this is all still Hollywood, so it’s still a road to get where we’re going. But I’m feeling very good about all of it.
(Folks over on my Instagram were asking about DOT updates, and all I can say there is that it’s still moving through production! When there’s news I can share, I promise I’ll share it, but there was a lot of work put in over the last year. So keep your fingers crossed we keep our momentum going).
And there’s another old project I’ve been noodling around with a pretty fucking cool director about. And that’s not even talking about the incredible ROOM SERVICE news we got last week…. It’s been a fun moment for sure.
BUT, I set out to write this post to show off a bit more W0RLDTR33, and that’s what I want to do!
I’ve been circulating the first issue among my pals in the industry, and the response has been really heartening. I think my favorite review so far came from Tyler Boss, who texted me “Homie. New book is MEAN” which I might put on the trade paperback. And yeah! I’ve been saying for a minute that this is probably my most brutal, frightening book that I’ve put out in the world. I slipped the line “Yeah! This isn’t one of my light-hearted child murder books” in another email. Ahahaha. But the responses have been very good, and I am very very proud of this book.
We’re still another few weeks out from our Final Order Cut-Off, but I wanted to reveal a few more covers to you. I always struggle with the higher end ratio variants, because I want them to be a real treat. Something that’s going to be legitimately rare, and worthy being rare, and worthy of hunting if you’ve been a collector of my books for years. I’ve cooked up something fun across the whole first arc of the series. I’m calling the 1:100 tier the "Homage” tier.
Let’s take a look at the full set of them, even for the issues that haven’t been solicited yet!
For Issue One, we’ve got Alvaro Martinez Bueno, co-creator of THE NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE.
For Issue Two we’ve got Werther Dell’Edera, co-creator of SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN
For Issue Three, we’ve got Martin Simmonds, co-creator of THE DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH.
For Issue Four, We’ve got Michael Dialynas, co-creator of WYND.
And for Issue Five, We’ve got Gavin Fullerton, co-creator of THE CLOSET.
Ahahahaha, it’s fun seeing them all together! I look forward to meeting the die-hards who manage to hunt down a full set.
The next few places you’ll be able to hunt me down and see me have finally been announced! We’re doing something really freaking cool for BLUE BOOK in a few weeks in Portland, OR. We wanted to do something FUN, so we’re doing a screening of one of my favorite movies of all time. CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND. I’ll be there with Michael Avon Oeming, and there will be a special cover limited to the event, and a live Q&A with me and Oeming after the film!
This is going down on Wednesday, March 15th at 7PM. I hope to see some of you there! You can read more about it here.
And about a month after that, I’m going to be down at the Third Eye Comics mothership in Annapolis, MD for the launch of W0RLDTR33 #1. Details below.
AND JUST A FEW WEEKS AFTER THAT, I’m heading back to Las Vegas for Amazing Comic Con with Fernando Blanco, Alvaro Martinez Bueno, and Martin Simmonds in tow! That show is April 28-30!
Feel like that’s a pretty good spread around the country! I hope I see a bunch of you in each of these spots!
Anyways. I’m writing this over the weekend even though it’s my first free weekend in literally a month and a half. So I’m gonna get off my computer and go read a book or walk around or something. GOD FORBID.

What an exciting time to be a fan! As an aside my LCS sold out of Blue Book #1 very quickly. It seems a lot of people slept on this book (not me, of course).
Dude. You continue to amaze me, all of us really.
Your hype and brand building levels are second to none in the industry. You’re even starting to encroach on the brand building skills of the immortal Stan the Man. Your foresight and relentless is so fucking impressive.
Think about this, you’ve taken all of your creator owned books and you’ve made their Issue-1 covers ICONIC. Not just because the content is good (though that helps a lot!) but because you’ve continually repurposed the covers via homages in other books – which only further reinforces the Tiny Onion brand. ‘If people keep doing homages, it must be a great read, I better pick it up’ – the thinking goes.
Tiny little Erica standing in front of the big woods filled with bigger monsters – is probably the quintessential comic book image of the past five years. And again – the stellar content of the book helped, but it’s those homages that really build it up even further. I’m pretty sure I have a foil DoT homage to SiKtC#1 that I think you sent us Onion Club peeps.
And if that’s not enough- looks what you’re doing with Fear! (I don’t speak leek). We haven’t even encountered her yet, and she’s already a hot character, maybe the hottest character in comics currently. You’re getting her on these homage covers, letting all your partners do different takes and interpretations. And that SiKtC cover homage…… Fear isn’t looking at woods – girl already slayed all the monsters. And we’re next. And you got her on the Wynd cover. Repurposing it as a computer screen with the folders, so clever! The blood smeared finger prints!
Just. Wow. I don’t understand how other comic book creators can’t mimic you. Even if they did a tenth of what you’re doing, and just a tenth as well as you – we’d have a healthier industry. You are just fucking kicking ass on a nonstop basis. Hats off to you. Round of applause. You’re amazing.
I won’t have the money to hunt all these down (though I’m mighty tempted!) and the A-cover and Frisson 1:10 are so good I might not need to. But I might splurge on that Nice House homage. The little emoji details on the top just really sell it for me. What an image! I cannot wait to read Fear’s adventures; horrifying and murderous though they will be. Haven’t been this pumped for a comic since Hox/Pox. Keeping doing you, we all need your output.
