TINY UPDATE 4/25: Thank You, Kansas City!
“Tiny Update” is a weekly free newsletter that keeps you up to date on the latest news, comic book projects and merchandise offerings from James Tynion IV and Tiny Onion Studios
Hello Friends!
I’m going to keep this one genuinely short, not the pretend short that I usually end up with when I say I’m going to make this short.
I’m in my hotel room in Kansas City after a great weekend meeting a lot of great fans at Planet Comicon. I had a blast at the show and was thrilled to meet a bunch of Onion Club members in person. I am also fucking exhausted. I forget the genuine stamina you need to function all weekend at one of these shows, and I am OUT OF PRACTICE. I feel like I could sleep for a week if I let myself. But that would make for some very, very grumpy editors.
I’m heading to the airport in a few hours, about to head off to San Francisco for a signing at Comix Experience (information below). Mostly I’m going to be locked in my hotel room catching up on more than a few overdue comic book scripts, and a handful of posts on this here Substack. We’ve got a big month in store for you.
I still owe you a process piece on TOPLOCC, and some more goodies that should be dropping this week, including the final issue of THE CLOSET, and the next WILD FICTION. Next week we’ve got an Onion Drop heading your way, with some great new covers in tow, and some great merch coming your way.
THE EMPIRE OF THE TINY ONION is supported by readers like you! Subscribe today to get early access to new merchandise, exclusive covers, digital-first comic book series, and in-depth behind-the-scenes commentary on your favorite comic books by James Tynion IV.

Okay! I’ve got one more stop before I’m allowed to go home.
THE NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE was selected for Comix Experience’s Graphic Novel Club, and I’m going to be in-store, in San Francisco for a signing, and to participate in a private discussion for GNC members on Wednesday, April 27th! I’m very excited to be heading back to Comix Experience for this event.
So, here’s everything I’ve got coming up for you!
SIGNING - COMIX EXPERIENCE - San Francisco, CA - April 27
CONVENTION - MEGACON - Orlando, FL - May 19-22
More details about my schedule at these conventions to come as we get closer to the date in question.
I have been re-reading the Mike Carey, Peter Gross, and Dean Ormston run on LUCIFER over the last week. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a while since it is the gold standard of Sandman spin-offs. Legitimately, I think it might be one of my favorite comic book runs of all time. The first year or so is good, but once all of the pieces are in place, and the series is juggling all of its beautiful threads, and incredible characters it’s really something to behold. Reading it again has my brain supercharged with ideas for Nightmare Country. I ended up rewriting half of the issue I was writing when I figured out a key element that I really think is going to help define the series.
Okay. That’s it. Time to fly to California.
Be good out there.

Thank you for everything you did at Planet Comic Con. My cousin, brother and I had a blast getting to meet you, chat about your books as well as get some signatures. You truly made our weekend. Thank you! Hope you have a relaxing and safe flight to your next destination!
Who do I contact if I still haven't received my Siktc or my nightmare country books. Or my member card. Or anything for that matter?
