See you all in just about 20 minutes for RE-ANIMATOR
And that brings RE-ANIMATOR to a close… By a lot of metrics, it’s not a perfect movie. The script isn’t anything special, and most of the acting is pretty underwhelming. BUT you can see how having a few key elements that work above and beyond all of the other elements of the film really make the whole thing more than the sum of its parts.
Jeffrey Combs is PERFECT as Herbert West, and he’s wildly fun to watch in every single scene he’s in. And the gore in the morgue scenes in particular are wildly memorable and visceral to watch. Not the same as the craft that went into the physical effects in the last two movies, but they’re not trying for realism. They are pushing beyond realism to pure visceral overkill, and it’s engaging to watch every second.
