Boy, getting a Kickstarter up and running is HARD WORK!

Yesterday was an absolute beast, but I’m thrilled to say that we’re over two thirds of the way to our funding. Which is TREMENDOUS! Thanks so much to ALL of you who have pitched in to get us here. But we’re not resting on our laurels just yet. We’ve got another exciting bit of news to share with you, today.

Elsa, PK and I are ambitious, and we put our heads together yesterday to see what more we could offer to bring a few more of you to the table.

The answer proved kind of obvious in retrospect. ROOM SERVICE THE MOVIE is a bit of an experiment for the three of us. And in the campaign, we weren’t providing the kind of artifact that my fans and Elsa’s fans know and love from us the most. We’re comic book people, and in all of this, we weren’t making a comic book.

So, I’m very happy to announce a new feature to the campaign. ROOM SERVICE: THE COMIC BOOK!

ROOM SERVICE: THE COMIC BOOK #1 is a comic book one shot written by James Tynion IV (That’s me!) and illustrated by Elsa Charretier, which will be the first appearance of The Caretaker character in comic form. The comic will also feature a back-up essay by Room Service director and co-creator PK Colinet and will feature a Kickstarter exclusive cover by Charretier.

This comic is a glimpse into the horrifying world of THE CARETAKER. In this prequel story to the short film, we’ll learn more about the mysterious faceless entity known as the Caretaker, how clients book his services, and the depths of the depravity he is willing to provide to the ultra-wealthy.

We’re making this available at a new low-cost tier, for those of you who want to support, but can’t budget for the full artbook, and don’t have space on your wall for a Movie Poster. And speaking of add-ons, we have a run of FOIL editions of the the comic available only as a special add-on for the campaign. We’re limiting this to a print run of 500 copies, so snag yours today before they’re all gone.

This comic will be completed and shipped alongside the rest of the campaign benefits later next year.
