Kicking Off A VERY Exciting Week. One Big Announcement, With Another Just Around The Corner
Get Your Monthly Onion Drop! Learn What A W0RLDTR33 Is! Get Tantalizing Hints At More Announcements To Come!
Hello Friends!
The spooky season is now in full swing, and I’ve got some very exciting stuff up my sleeve this week. SO, I’m just going to get right into it!
You may have seen my beautiful, cherubic presence back on my main Twitter account (@JamesTheFourth). At some point over NYCC weekend, Twitter decided to permanently ban my @ReadTinyOnion account with literally no explanation, and a week later we still have no response on our appeal. SO, that’s fun, and I’ve got shit to promote this week, so you’re all going to have to put up with me again over on the bad website for the next month. I am NOT sticking around. So enjoy me while I last! On Monday, I did a little Twitter Q&A, and might do a few more to make the most of my time there. So keep your eyes peeled for me.
Dealing with all that nonsense helped push back what I hoped to be the big push for my Onion Drop offerings this month. Normally, Onion Drops happen behind the paywall, but this month, we’re not offering anything that has a limited number of copies, so I’m throwing open the gates to everyone.
It’s nearly Halloween, and I have some special treats to put in your baskets. I’ve known for a while that October was going to be a quiet month from me in the publishing space, and I wouldn’t really have any new merch or covers for you… But I did want to mark the Holidays with a couple of fun little treats for you.
TINY ONION PUMPKIN STENCIL SET
For fans of carving pumpkins and fans of Something is Killing the Children and The Department of Truth. We’ve whipped up a few fun stencils to help you carve a SIKTC or DOT themed Pumpkin. This is a limited offering, and it’s pay-what-you-want! We’ll be pulling it down after Midnight on Halloween. BUT, if you do decide to do a Department of Truth or Something is Killing the Children Pumpkin, please send pictures to TinyOnionStudios@gmail.com with a note of whether you’d be cool with me running the picture in my newsletters!
RAZORBLADES: THE HORROR MAGAZINE
The Critically Acclaimed self-published horror anthology is back available in Digital Single Issues, only from Tiny Onion Studios! We’ve got all five of the original issues available to purchase as PDFs. Back when we launched the RAZORBLADES project, I promised that they’d always be available digitally, but when I transferred my old webstore over the new one, we lost some of the tricks the old system had at its disposal. These guys will stay available on ShopTinyOnion.com as Digital PDFs for the long haul.
We’re still looking for a good solution for the kind of pure pay-what-you-want that we had back when we were selling the issues on Gumroad, but with both the Halloween Stencils AND the Razorblades issues, you can pay as little as $0.01 per item. But pay what you think is right!
BEYOND THAT, I AM ANNOUNCING THE FIRST EVER HALLOWEEN SALE ON SHOPTINYONION.COM!
Apply the code TR1CK (with a one for the “I”) at check-out to get 15% off your purchase. The Sale ends at midnight on October 31st! So, go snag some special goodies. We’ve got Signed Comics, a few exclusive Variant Covers, T-Shirts, Pins, and SIKTC Masks. Given the number of horror books I work on, it felt like a very appropriate Halloween treat!
Normally, Onion Drops are only available for paid members of this Substack, so if you don’t want to miss out on a cool cover next month, you should hit the Subscribe Button!
SO, WHAT ABOUT THAT BIG ANNOUNCEMENT?
Oh, RIGHT! So… For a while, I’ve been teasing a series that I’ve called Codename Dial-Up here on this newsletter. I’m thrilled to reveal a little bit more about the project. The series is called W0RLDTR33.
I’m writing it. It’s being drawn by the phenomenal Fernando Blanco, whose work you may know from Catwoman, colored by the amazing Jordie Bellaire, who has been rocking out on Nice House on the Lake, and lettered by Tiny Onion regular, Aditya Bidikar of DOT, Wynd Book One, Blue Book Season One, and The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos.
It’s going to be launching next spring from Image Comics, but readers of the IMAGE! Anthology Series that’s been running all year will be able to get their first look with an exclusive preview story in issue #8 next month. Here’s a quick glimpse of one of the pages from that story.
See, just a nice happy comic book!
W0RLDTR33 is a Sci-Fi/Horror Comic. Spiritually, it’s the successor to one of my earliest creator-owned books, MEMETIC. Tonally, it’s probably closest to NICE HOUSE, but with a bit more blood and action. It’s a horror story about technology, and it has been in my head for about five years, and I am so fucking excited that it’s finally going to start coming out in stores. I keep thinking of it as my big horror novel. It’s a BIG story, a sprawling ongoing epic that if we do our jobs right, will run for several years, building toward a singular ending. It’s my first ongoing, creator-owned horror comic launch since Nice House on the Lake last summer.
I am going to be marshaling the the forces of heaven and hell as I work to bang the drum for this book over the next six months. You’ll be hearing a lot more about this, particularly once I introduce you to a terrifying character who I think will become the stand-out icon of the series, on the level of an Erica Slaughter or a Fictional Woman. You’ll meet her closer to the solicitation date.
So… Stay tuned. I’ll be saying a lot more about this shortly. In the meantime, you should make sure your LCS orders you a copy of IMAGE! #8, in stores next month, Final Order Cut-Off next Monday.
AND WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER BIG ANNOUNCEMENT?!
BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA!
This week is going to be completely fucking nuts. You’re going to find out the shape of the next project tomorrow when its announced, and then you’re going to hear about it in a lot more detail on Wednesday when it launches. We have been working on this bad boy for most of the last year.
So, keep your ears to the ground. I am unbelievably excited to share what I’ve been working on with you all.
Okay, you’ll be hearing from me PLENTY this week. Keep your eyes on your inboxes. You’re going to be finding out about another big project tomorrow, and coming at you in a way I doubt any of you expect.
And then wildly enough, in just about a month, you’re going to hear ANOTHER big announcement from me. And after that happens I am going to get the fuck off Twitter and go hibernate for the winter.
More Soon!

Just to clarify, regarding the Onion Club moving off Substack, will Onion Club membership still include all paid Substack content or will that require a separate paid subscription to Substack?
For 2023 and having to pay shipping. Can there be better hold box options? Instead of having to pay 20-30 dollars to ship a book every drop or for each exclusive. I’m in Canada and it becomes more expensive to ship then for the actual purchase.
Being able to hold them for at least 3 months would help alot.
