Hey Friends! I hope the holidays have been treating you nicely. I’m finally back in Brooklyn, and ready to be on the other side of holiday madness and get back into a bit more of a routine. Well… About 24 days of a Routine for me, until I fly to France for Angouleme, but that’s almost enough time to get a life in proper order, right?
James, I love to hear you refer to “fun” as being a priority for you as you approach your work. “Fun” is also a HUGE priority for me in all things. The way I see it, if I can’t find the “fun” in the things that I do then they probably aren’t worth doing. And I strongly believe that if you are having fun doing your work, then that “fun” will come through your work to the people who engage with it and they will have fun, too! And “fun” is FUN, so more of that please!!! 😊
There is one Onion Club/Substack thing that I’m still confused about. I understand that Onion Club 2023 includes a Substack subscription. However, I am currently signed-up for Onion Club 2023 (I renewed back in August as a Founder) but my Substack subscription states “Trial period: ends Aug 9, 2023.” Will my Substack information change to “Trial period: ends Dec 31, 2023.” once my Onion Club 2023 membership becomes “official” on Jan. 1, 2023 or is there other action that needs to take place? Thank you.
Sir, quick 2 cents. Before I start.....I sub to only u on Substack. In the comic book world where Jonathan Hickman exists, I choose T4 as the only person to sub for my comic book needs. So please consider, I’m not a troll looking to be negative. In the last DECADE you are top 2 in all of comics for me. You being so prolific is why i probably give u the edge over Hickman. I love your work. I love almost everything u have ever written.
All that said, I’m not sure what I’m paying for last few months. Blue book is dope but feels more like an appetizer. Closet was great but was immediately available in print where I bought the 3 issues. And now as the smoke clears.....the only book that remotely seems to be a steady release(albeit at every 2 months) is Christopher chaos, and that isn’t even written by you.
Will you have anything new coming for 2023?? I would be happy if I got TWO books. 25 pages or so. Book 1 is Jan/March/May etc. Book 2 is Feb/April/June Etc. And then the fun side stuff like dot monster profiles. Small tidbits like blue book. That’s all!!! I didn’t sign up expecting 8 monthly books, but didn’t expect 0 either.
Anything new coming?? I wasn’t a fan of Substack period. I get it, but I don’t have 2k a year to give to all my favorite writers plus DC/Marvel/image/indies.....so I chose YOU.....out of everyone. Just need to see something....please don’t take this wrong. I’m not trying to be a cunt. Huge fan. Back to the Batman backups. I think your detective run is top 5 Batman ALL TIME and your Batman/Joker runs right on its heels. Super fan here. Uber fan!!!
