I always find it so heartbreaking to hear about creators I love feeling crushed with deadlines and an expectation to constantly churn out MORE! Personally, I don't mind when expected release dates or pushed back projects get delayed; I'd much rather the creators take their time to get their projects just right. I joined this Substack, not because I wanted more and more JT-IV content; but because I dig the things you create and wanted to help support you creating what you can create best. I'm sure I'm not alone in that sentiment, and I hope this helps inspire you to take more time for yourself in life and find a balance that feels right.

Hi there. Congrats on The Closet. Can you or your editor explain what oversized means? Will it be super wide like what DC’s Black Press sometimes puts out (ie. Jock’s One Dark Knight) or a big magazine style like the Last Ronin? Or is this just going to be a normal sized comic with just a few more pages added to it like a detective comics 1000/1027?

I LOVED that miniseries version of The Little Drummer Girl. Everyone was great in it but Florence Pugh was soooooooo good in it.

I can't wait for Department of Truth 17. My favorite book was Zdarsky's DD but I find myself pining for more DOT constantly. That's the book I look forward to the most. I hope there's a Deluxe Edition soon. I don't usually buy oversized hardcovers or anything, but DOT is worth it.

Start with Hellboy Omnibus One if you want the main plot or Hellboy The Complete Short Stories Omnibus one if you want that. The short stories all take place before the main series but aren't necessary. I'd still highly recommend them, though. They have some of the best that Hellboy has to offer.

I’m a scientist - and I really identify with your feelings of never being mentally away. I’m constantly churning on ideas, curiosities, experiments I’d like us to try, ways to tell a story for publication. I’m never too far away from those thoughts. The one thing I’ve always been grateful for, is that my job has never felt like work. I’ve never “counted my hours.” I’m profoundly grateful for that, even if it means I’m not fully present sometimes. Trade offs to everything I suppose.

I am happy that this substack thing is panning out well for you. It's a big scary thing to stop taking a meal from someone else and try to find your own food in the wild. I always try to support those who shy away from the normal box we are prepped to hibernate in our entire lives. Either way congrats and we got your back 🧅♣️

Spoken like a true introvert. A night out with the boys or a wedding and seeing friends and family always leaves u thinking WHY DONT I DO THIS MORE? I NEED THIS.

Then a few days later, back to ducking any kind of social activity unless it’s necessary.

SO Awesome about the Closet. Congrats to you and the team. Looking forward to more of the Substack content available in Print as well. I know I FOC'ed Razorblades & Small Cuts 1 from Image. Can't wait to grab those as well.

Glad you had such a great weekend!!!

I bought the omnibus vol 1 at about a year ago, but had not started yet because Mike has been putting out alot of great Hellboy and BPRD tale's of late. Must be a sign to start reading the source material.
