I just want to say thank you, I joined the foundes tier on several projects last year, and there has been many great offerings, but this one has been the one that I have enjoyed and interacted with the most. Thank you for providing great value, content, and books! I hope we have another horror marathon as well (even if its just a half day)!

Huge congrats on the Eisners, and thanks for the kind words about Paper Girls!

Shit yea! Congo-Rats on the Eisners! I will definitely be renewing my sub! I am 30 covers away from having a full collection of all non superhero comics you have written. Well I do have all the non superhero comics you have written just not all the variant covers. Not including store exclusives, that'd be insane to try and collect all those too. Still trying to track down a Memetic #1 meme virgin variant.

Hey James! Loved MOTHER COUNTRY RADICALS. Are you sure SLOW BURN is the podcast you're referring to that talks about Iraq in S1 and Cuba in S2? It sounds fascinating.

Anyway, some podcast recommendations that I think fit what you're looking for:

PROJECT UNABOMB – 8 episodes about the Unabomber based on his archives and interviews with FBI agents and extensively with the bombers brother and victims. Fantastic series. I realized I didn't know anything about this while listening. Last episode came out today.

LOVE THY NEIGHBOR – 5 epodes about the Crown Heights uprising in 91. The two factions were the Caribbean side of the neighborhood and the Lubavitch Jews who had made the neighborhood their home. You know all those signs up in NYC lately that say "MESSIAH IS HERE"? That's them. The story is told by a woman who is both of Black Caribbean heritage and Jewish. This time in history also ties to Rudy's rise as mayor of the city. Great series.

BORDER CITY – 8 episodes about a journalist living in Tijuana. She tells a decades long story of the events that have taken place in Tijuana over the last 20 or so years and the intersections between that and her personal life in TJ, her adopted home.

A few other quick hits: MY MOTHER MADE ME by Jason Reynolds and ÍDOLO: The Ballad of Chalino Sánchez.

Hi there, new to to club as of today, but I've been lurking for a while. My SO and I read The Nice House on the Lake volume 1 last week and burned through it so fast. We have a back log of your work to go thru and we are savoring it! Your comics are recommended by people over at the Exploding Giraffee substack all the bloody time, and we saw a ton of love for your work on top 10 lists, at the Eisner, etc. so we knew we had to jump on the Onion train before it left the station! Can't wait to dive in to all the content here!!! Congrats on the Eisner wins! Can't wait to see what's next!

Congratulations on your THREE EISNER WINS!!! That is truly amazing! Winning one Eisner for Best Writer is quite and accomplishment. Winning two, and in BACK-TO-BACK YEARS, cements your position as the best in the biz! You should be very proud of yourself. Keep up the great work!

On a side note, was this month’s Onion Drop exclusive for “Wynd” intended to be one-per-customer or is that a holdover from the last offering? I know you restricted your 500 print count offerings to one-per-customer but since this is a 1000 print count offering I thought you’d open it back up to two-per-customer (and I’d like to buy 2 😉). I’m cool with whatever you decide, but I thought I’d ask.

So glad I wasn’t the only one who got Edward Furlong vibes from Mac. She’s absolutely terrific.

Thanks for posting the upcoming convention schedule! Looking forward to seeing your as of yet unannounced but extremely likely SiKtC-verse panel at NYCC.

As the Onion Club evolves, I think it would be great if those of us in the Founder's Tier maintain that role/title! Very happy and proud to be a supporter from the beginning (of substack era anyway).

We’d love to have you up in the northwest for ECCC or RCCC again some year.

I remember meeting you at RCCC ‘19 (my first con) when I didn’t know anything about you beside you writing some Batman / co-writing some Justice League (with Scott Snyder).

Now my pull list is practically half Tynion IV.

Congratulations on an amazing night in San Diego, James! None of us who follow your work are at all surprised. Thank you! Looking forward in anticipation of what comes next. I reckon there be tygers.

To that end, I share the concern espoused by some of the non-Founders Tier Onion Club members. You see, I missed that boat.

I rekindled my love of comics in September, 2021... after a nearly 20 year hiatus. At the time, I literally had never heard of James Tynion, nor onion empires, tiny or otherwise. I started reading, and getting my bearings in this new world, then discovered The Nice House on the Lake. Like most readers, I was blown away. It was the same familiar medium as the X-Men comics of my youth, but this clearly was not that!

A few short months later, by November, I was much more educated, hooked on your writing, and subscribed to the top tier of the Onion Club.

In the 9 months since, I have amassed what my wife would call a borderline unhealthy collection of SiKtC (every A, many, many variants), NHotL, DoT, Joker, Batman back-issues, House of Slaughter, the Closet, and Nightmare Country. In short, I'm a fan! And I really would prefer NOT to have to leave my Onion Club membership to chance, or to beating nimble fingers, steeled by countless hours of gaming, to the "subscribe" button.

Perhaps you could consider extending a loyalty option to every current Onion Club subscriber, allowing us to subscribe for 2023 in advance of our renewal date? My subscription expires 11/1. I would happily pay my 2023 membership dues tomorrow.

Let me see if I've got this straight....my subscription as a member of the Onion Club renews on 17th August 2022 but it will now renew at $75 not $250.

Sign up for 2023 happens later in November / December but membership will be capped at 1,000 and you'll have to take a chance along with everyone else who didn't subscribe in the first week of the Substack - with no guarantee you will be successful...

...and shipping costs will be additional so as an international subscriber it could possibly mean $20.00 per book to ship to Europe so possibly an extra $120.00 - so $370.00 in total

Asking for clarification as, sadly, I need to make a decision in the next 14 days before my subscription renews as to whether I continue with my support or make way for someone else :(

Where can I send an e-mail with questions regarding my sub? I don't see any contact details anywhere. Thanks!

If you like Mother Country Radicals I recommend subscribing to or reading anything by journalist and activist Chris Hedges. Or reading about cultural hegemony as first expounded by Antonio Gramsci . I find so much of what goes on in this country a result of this....

Hope to meet you at NYCC!

I'm on the last volume of Paper Girls and will then be watching the show. Glad it stays true to the comics with its treatment of the characters because based on the episode summaries it seems to be departing from the plot/structure quite a bit (at least this season).
