I hope you’ve been well. Eat any tasty pumpkin treats this week?
We’re all a flurry getting ready for our first big NYCC as a crew. We’ll be hosting 12 signings, producing 3 panels, launching 1 physical newspaper, and slinging merch and paper goods all weekend from our double wide booth. We’re not done with our parade of announcements, though!
Earlier this week we announced our Artists In Residence program, and now I’m happy to share a bit more about the books they will be helping us create…

From the press release…
INKLORE AND TINY ONION ANNOUNCE GRAPHIC NOVEL PROGRAM
NEW YORK, NY – October 10, 2024 – Inklore, an imprint of Random House Worlds at The Random House Publishing Group, announced today that it will partner with Tiny Onion and Eisner Award-winning writer James Tynion IV on a massive 12-book deal, comprising of three original graphic novel series. World rights were acquired by Rebecca Taylor, Editorial Director at Inklore and Kate McHale, Senior Commissioning Editor at Inklore UK.
“I could not be more excited to be teaming up with James and the Tiny Onion team,” said Rebecca “Tay” Taylor, Editorial Director at Inklore. “James’ characters and their relationships to each other always drive his stories, no matter the genre. I cannot wait for Inklore readers to lose themselves in the heartbreak, propulsion, and joy of what Tiny Onion has in store for them.”
The first series, THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE WHO NEVER LOVED ME, follows a magician whose revolutionary performances bring him great professional success at a significant personal cost, with the first of three volumes of the series scheduled for release in 2028.
Inklore is an imprint of Random House Worlds at The Random House Publishing Group, a division of Penguin Random House, publishing the best in manga, manhwa, manhua, webcomics, and graphic novels, both licensed and original, for adult audiences.
And from James himself…
I've known Rebecca Taylor since the earliest days of my comics career, back when I was just starting out as a writer at Boom! Studios and she was editing at Archaia. We spent time working on the Batman Group titles at DC together, and ultimately she was my editor on Justice League Dark, and helped me unlock that series into the beautiful, frightening beast it would become. Over those years we would spend lots of time talking about what we thought the comics industry should look like. About a year ago, we met up the week of New York Comic Con. I laid out what I was looking to build with Tiny Onion, and she laid out what she was building with Inklore. We raised a couple of glasses together and said "Let's finally do all of the shit we've been wanting to do for years."
(Actually I think I said, "Let's take over the world." That sounds more like me.)
I had a great meeting with Tay and the team behind Random House Worlds shortly thereafter, and I remember asking how aggressive I could be in proposing what we’d be building together. Tay and the PRH team told me to be as aggressive as I wanted to be… which is always a dangerous thing to say to me. I brought them three series that I've been cooking in the background for years. Books that readers of my current titles would love, but ones that I felt would find their fullest possible audience with the help of a company like Inklore, shelved alongside great series like Lore Olympus. These are my comic concepts that tap into the kind of emotionally high stakes romance and fantasy manga that I was reading in middle school and high school. Comics where I'll be able to hit the high notes of soap opera, through a lens that feels uniquely in my lane, with a bunch of incredible creators working at my side.
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE WHO NEVER LOVED ME is the flagship, and I'll be writing it solo. The Book Market has a long production timeline, so it'll be a few years before you hear a lot more about it, and about the other titles in our line, but know that I'm not lying when I say that Tiny Onion has years of books in the pipeline hitting every corner of the comics medium. I'm so happy to be teamed with Tay and the whole Inklore team to bring these series to life.

That’s a lot of good news. If I’m allowed a moment of earnestness, we’re all very excited for NYCC next week. It has been a lot of work, but I can’t wait to be able to share more of all of the work our incredible team has been putting out this year. I love putting books in hands. Sharing art is a high unlike any other.
See you next week for even more news and a reminder that NYCC is around the corner. Don’t make any sudden movements.
Happy pumpkin-patch-picking to those that celebrate!
